This role will be Hybrid out of either our NYC or Shelton, CT office 

 

Position Summary

**Need to have experience with Amazon and growing businesses on that channel **

The Brand Manager (BM), Strategy will be an integral member of the Grooming business, responsible for developing and supporting strategies for Jack Black that fuel brand love and sales growth. This critical role will be responsible for the planning, development, and implementation of strategic and tactical consumer-marketing activities. The BM will champion our target consumers and will leverage deep consumer understanding to create/strengthen sustainable competitive advantage. Primary responsibilities will include portfolio management, brand strategy development, strategic and annual planning, leading cross channel campaign and creative development, pricing, reporting and people development. This position requires consistent cross-functional collaboration with brand marketing teammates, sales, finance, and supply chain among others. The ideal candidate will embody an entrepreneurial approach where this individual owns the business and disrupts the category.

Accountabilities:

• Responsible for understanding consumer behaviors & trends, owning consumer segmentation strategy, and delivering brand strategies, inclusive of brand concept & positioning, that resonate with the consumer(s) to allow EPC to profitably grow.
• Responsible for supporting and delivering the strategies that will drive share growth of our brands in the category, enable outstanding activation, and deliver key elements of the P&L, including net sales & A&P spending.
• Develop detailed portfolio and brand strategies and plan for current and future years as part of strategic planning process including brand “big bets”.
• Support creation of brand creative campaigns; create brand communications briefs/concepts and positioning statements that communicate key brand health elements.
• Support the annual business planning process (ABP) - develop annual brand strategy and marketing plans inclusive of pricing, packaging updates, advertising, promotion, and new product commercialization.
• Track brand health and recommend changes and adjustments to strategy.
• Recommend strategic choices to ensure brands meet category financial targets (i.e., SGRM).
• Provide support & strategic counsel to support the long-term growth of healthy brand P&L’s, including counsel on SRGM, pricing, product mix & NPD impact to GM.
• Monitor in market sales performance and recommend action to achieve objectives for the category (i.e., business development, not just promo tactics).
• Understand drivers of shipments and recommend actions to address gaps or maximize business opportunities.
• Own communication strategy and claims for brand (s) product portfolio.
• Partner with customer development on pricing, promotion, placement and presence strategies to maximize both category and brand performance.
• Partner with sales strategy to identify business building & 4P opportunities in key classes of trade
• Partner with innovation team on what innovation is needed, ensure it is set up for in market success and lead development of commercial strategies.

Required Education, Skills and Experience

• Bachelor’s Degree with a concentration in Business or Marketing related discipline.
• 5+ years CPG experience having directly supported a brand in a global or commercial organization with strong analytical responsibilities.
• Strong business acumen – ability to understand key drivers of the business and know how to prioritize marketing activities; accordingly, is financially minded and can quickly size and action opportunities against the impact to the business.

Preferred Skills and Experience

• MBA highly preferred.
• Strategic thinker, able to identify long-term opportunities and trends; ability to make decisions in a changing environment and anticipate future needs.
• Curiosity on consumer, category, and shopper trends and how brands can show up uniquely at retail and on dot com that resonates with the target consumer and moves the needle against KPIs.
• Strong communicator: can push thinking and steer strategy internally; can share brand vision and advocate for the customer externally.
• Driven by creative intuition but able to reflect and course-correct with data as well as report results and optimize using data.
• Collaborator and strong cross functional influencer, proven track record of gaining alignment and influence quickly with a diverse group of stakeholders. 
• Self-motivated and goal-oriented; ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
• Strong interpersonal skills; ability to work in a highly collaborative environment and work effectively with team members and various key stakeholders.
• Strong project management skills; demonstrated ability to prioritize and handle several projects simultaneously while meeting tight deadlines.
• Detail-oriented with strong analytical and strategic thinking skills.
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, ability to articulate in a clear and concise manner across various levels of the organization.
• Willingness to perform other duties and special projects as needed/requested.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

 

Position can be based in Shelton, CT or NYC 

The salary range for this position is $120,000 - $160,000. Actual base salary offered to a candidate may vary based upon factors including, but not limited to, relevant experience, time in role, base salary of internal peers, prior performance, business sector, and geographic location. In addition to base salary, the competitive compensation package may include, depending on the role, participation in an incentive program linked to performance.
