How YOU will make a Difference:

Full Stack Developers at HMA are builders, problem‑solvers, and collaborators. Whether you’re just starting your engineering journey or participating in helping lead large projects, you’ll work across the full technology stack: C#, .NET, SQL, JavaScript/TypeScript, cloud services, and modern DevOps pipelines. This helps HMA create reliable, scalable, and user‑friendly applications that serve our members!

Our developers grow through hands‑on experience, mentorship, and increasing ownership. Early‑career engineers learn the foundations of clean code, Git workflows, and testable design while partnering closely with QA teams, PMO, Claims, and more. As developers advance, they take on more complex features, influence architecture, strengthen CI/CD automation, and help shape how we deliver software in our hybrid Agile/Waterfall environment.

What YOU will do:

Software Development

  • Build end‑to‑end features across UI, API, and database layers.
  • Improve SQL performance through indexing, query optimization, and schema refinement.
  • Develop REST APIs with proper error handling, logging, and validation.
  • Refactor legacy code to improve maintainability and testability.

Git & Source Control

  • Manage feature branches and resolve complex merge conflicts.
  • Review pull requests from junior developers with constructive feedback.
  • Follow and enforce branching strategies (GitFlow, trunk‑based, etc.).

Testing & QA Collaboration

  • Write comprehensive unit and integration tests.

Work with QA to:

  • Define test cases for Playwright automation
  • Validate API contract tests in Postman
  • Participate in defect triage and root‑cause analysis
  • Ensure code is testable and supports automation frameworks.

DevOps & CI/CD

  • Enhance built pipelines by adding automated tests, static analysis, or linting.
  • Contribute to deployment scripts and environment configuration.
  • Troubleshoot pipeline failures and improve reliability.

SDLC Participation

  • Estimate work accurately and identify risks early.
  • Collaborate with product owners to refine requirements.
  • Support hybrid Agile/Waterfall delivery by adapting to project needs.

Expected Competencies

  • Strong understanding of .NET Core, SQL optimization, and front‑end frameworks.
  • Solid Git proficiency and familiarity with CI/CD.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with QA, product, and operations.
  • Strong debugging and problem‑solving skills.

Requirements

Knowledge, Experience and Attributes:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Systems, or a related field required
  • 3-5+ years of professional full-stack development experience
  • Proficiency in:
    • C#/.NET Core
    • SQL optimization and relational database design
    • JavaScript/TypeScript and modern UI frameworks
  • Strong Git skills (branching strategies, resolving conflicts, reviewing PRs)
  • Experience writing unit and integration tests
  • Ability to work independently on moderately complex features
  • Experience collaborating with QA:
    • Understanding Playwright test coverage
    • Reviewing Postman API tests
    • Participating in defect triage
  • Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and build automation
  • Experience working in Agile, Waterfall, or hybrid environments
  • Nice to Have
    • Exposure to cloud platforms (Azure, AWS)
    • Experience improving testability and code quality
    • Participation in design discussions or architecture reviews
